My brother and I were raised to never stop exploring and to never stop learning about new cultures. The world was our classroom, and we were its students. We’ve each raised our children the same way.

My experience running a successful design business, combined with my Communications degree from Northwestern (with a concentration in the Medill School of Journalism), makes me a natural in my ability to assess my client's specific wishes and needs and to design a desirable itinerary.

I've gone to cooking school in Rome and Provence, swum with the sharks and rays in Tahiti, explored the ruins of Machu Picchu, and confronted the Oracle at Delphi.

As a toddler, I camped with my family in the Boundary Waters Wilderness. When I was six years old, my family left Minnesota in a Volkswagen pop-top camper and drove through Central America all the way to Argentina and Brazil. And then all over Europe and Africa. We were gone a year and a half!

In 2006 through 2007, my husband and I, with our two young children, traveled for a year all over Europe. We took the kids out of school and toured 22 countries. Recently I've turned the corner on seeing 70 countries. And I’ve met the most remarkable people along the way.

Read a magazine interview about how I turned my childhood love of travel into a career here, and see my features in Virtuoso Life here and Reader’s Digest here.

“Travel, I think, should be more than just seeing new places. It should be an education, it should be exhilarating, and it should be unforgettable.”

We are excited to share that Abigail has been named on Travel Agent Central's 30under30 list for 2023!

My love of travel began when I was eight years old: my parents and grandparents took us to France for a month. Five years later, we embarked on a year-long journey to explore all of western Europe. Travel--history, gastronomy, wine, art, architecture, family--became my world. Read about how travel changed my life as a child here.

In college, I dedicated my time to studying English Literature and French with an emphasis on food and wine history and writing. I studied abroad in Aix-en-Provence, and my love for food and wine pairing blossomed; I studied abroad again a year later, in Burgundy, to study Pinot Noir.

After I graduated, I continued my wine education through the Wine and Spirit Education Trust to get my level III award in wines and spirits. My career also took me into the Oregon Wine Industry; I worked with and provided clients with luxury wine tasting experiences for four years. The only thing missing in my life was travel.

When the opportunity to join my mother at Kristen Meckem Travel presented itself, I immediately knew I had found a spectacular avenue to incorporate my passion for wine and my love for travel into a career where I get to help craft unique and unforgettable travel memories for others, and I am ecstatic to bring my knowledge of wine to the luxury travel industry.

My love for travel is rooted in my passion for helping others, a strong awareness of different cultures, and a natural curiosity for the world. I'm a firm believer that travel is one of the greatest gifts you can give to yourself and others and that it should be a life-changing experience.

During my own travels in far flung corners of the world, I have made both incredible memories and friends.  I know the important life lessons that exploring new places can teach, like gaining perspective, how to exercise resourcefulness, and practicing patience.

A proud Southern California local, I reside in Pacific Palisades. I received a degree in Anthropology from the University of California Santa Barbara, which led me down many diverse paths before following my passion to the travel industry.

In the fall of 2022, the accomplished and seasoned Suzette Mack joined our team as Luxury Travel Advisor.

Suzette Mack is a luxury family and adventure travel specialist, with over 25 years of professional experience. Formerly a Silicon Valley engineer, she has traveled with her children since they were infants, taking them on everything from camping and adventure tours, to dude ranch and luxury resort getaways. As her children have grown, her business has expanded to include planning for all ages.

Suzette has a wide breadth of adventure travel experience, with a special interest in wildlife experiences, water sports, and expedition cruising. Some of her most memorable travel experiences are interacting with gray whales and their babies in Magdalena Bay on a private expedition with Sven Lindblad, backpacking with llamas in Wyoming, night snorkeling with manta rays in Hawaii, and participating in an elk safari at a luxury ranch in New Mexico.

Suzette has a special passion for Alaska, and has travelled from the Inside Passage to the Arctic Circle multiple times. While not out on an adventure, Suzette also appreciates history and culture. She’s visited wineries around the US and in Italy and France, has watched fireworks over the Grand Canal in Venice, explored the forts of Old San Juan, and visited Stonehenge and other archeological sites in the English countryside.
